Super Bowl 50 Initial Odds: Broncos vs. Panthers

Initial odds posted by Top online Sportsbooks just as both Conference Final games came to an end put the Carolina Panthers as initial favorites to beat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. This comes as no shock to most sports betting fans as the Panthers have displayed amazing performances throughout the season, but the Broncos aren’t to be underestimated. They managed to find a way to stop Tom Brady and the Packers and prevent New England from becoming back-to-back AFC champions.

Currently the initial line reported by top online Sportsbooks have Carolina -4.5 to win the Vince Lombardi trophy. This line is very interesting indeed as this game will feature a clash of offense and defense. The Panthers led by a red-hot MVP Cam Newton, are playing some of the best offensive football in the league this season. But the same could have been said about the Patriots (when they had a full healthy roster), and the Broncos limited the mighty Patriots offense and controlled Tom Brady up to the final moments of the game. This line to the casual fan that might be more interested in the Super Bowl commercials than the actual game could be misleading.

The Broncos put on a good display of defense against a future hall of famer, but in the Super Bowl they will face a different type of QB. Cam Newton can throw the ball and can definitely run it. He leads the league as in passing and rushing TDs with a total of 45. And his performance on the NFC championship game was truly marvelous to say the very least. His capabilities to find different ways to shift Carolina’s offense is the reason that most could anticipate the Panthers beating the Broncos by a larger margin and covering the spread. We might be in for a blow out even.

The line that most of the top online sportsbooks have posted will definitely change during this two week period, but we don-t anticipate it will move that much of that margin. It remains to be seen how both teams are mentally and physically in the days leading to the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning will (perhaps) get his final shot at winning the Super Bowl for a second time in his illustrious career, as for Newton, he could be in for his first Super Bowl ring and probably lay the foundations for a new dynasty in the NFL. One thing is for sure, even the fan only there for the Super Bowl Commercials has to be excited.
